The Hawaiçi Hotel & Lodging Association's 31st annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk, held today on Oçahu, Maui, Kauaçi and the Big Island, raised $925,000 for more than 100 local charities.
More than 6,600 walkers turned out for the 10-kilometer walks, which featured food and entertainment at numerous stops along the way.
The Oçahu walk began at McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Beach Park, looped through Waikiki via the Ala Wai Canal and the Waikiki Beach Walk, and returned to the pavilion.
Organizers said they were gratified by the show of support during a difficult economic time.
