SEATTLE — The Seattle Seahawks have reached a contract agreement with veteran long snapper Bryan Pittman, agent Kevin Gold said.
Gold confirmed the one-year deal in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Pittman played at Washington. He started 92 straight games for the Houston Texans until the NFL suspended him for four games in December for violating the league’s anti-doping policy.
Pittman was punished for using a diuretic, which can serve as a masking agent for steroids.
Seattle hopes the 32-year-old Pittman solidifies a problematic position. The Seahawks have been trying to find a permanent long snapper since J.P. Darche left following the 2006 season.
Pittman’s contract was first reported by ESPN.com.
