Oahu beachgoers urged to use extreme caution on northern, western shores

Waves of more than 10 feet are breaking on Oahu's northern and western shores today and everyone should check with lifeguards before going into the water.
A high surf advisory is in effect until Monday evening. The Weather Service says waves may reach 14 feet or higher on northern shores, slightly lower on western shores.
EMS Dept. spokesman Bryan Cheplic said at 9:45 a.m. today that there were no reports of injuries or damage. There are no reports of water going over roads. However, he said anyone heading to the beach should check with lifeguards before going into the water.
