Garrison-Hawaii offers condolences
Garrison-Hawaii offered its condolences today following the mass shootings in Fort Hood, Texas:
"Our thoughts and prayers are with our fellow military families and friends who have been affected by the tragic shootings at Fort Hood, Texas," said Col. Matthew Margotta, commander, U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii. "Here in Hawaii, our senior Army leaders are carefully monitoring the situation as it continues to unfold.
"The safety of our personnel and their families is always forefront in our minds and actions," Margotta added. "As a matter of Army policy, we do not publicly discuss installation security measures or threats. Appropriate security measures are currently in place, and threat assessments are being conducted as necessary."
Local Army chaplains and military and family-life consultants stand ready to provide aid to any soldier or family members in need of support or counseling, Garrison-Hawaii said.
