Real life-and-death situations that a teenager might confront — ranging from abortion, suicide, extreme sports, self-defense, even rescuing strangers — are among topics to be explored in a new weekly class sponsored by Chabad of Hawaii.

The course, "My Space. Your Space. Is My Life Any of Your Business?," is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on Sundays in Chabad headquarters on the second floor of the Ala Moana Hotel.

It is meant to be a "thought-provoking discussion" of current events, morals and ethics and Hebrew language, with a scattering of "smooze and nosh."

The classes, open to any Jewish teenager, will be ongoing.

3-DAY FEST OFFERS CONCERT, CRAFTS FAIR

St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Líhue will honor the "Episcopal saints" King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma in a three-day celebration Friday through Nov. 15 at the Kauai church.

Kamehameha IV and Emma founded the local Episcopal Church in Hawaii, as well as other local institutions including the Cathedral Church of St. Andrew's, The Queens Hospital, Iolani School and St. Andrew's Priory for Girls.

The celebration begins with a 7 p.m. benefit concert and silent auction Friday. Among the musicians will be Malani Bilyeu. The $25 tickets include pupu, drinks and dessert, and are available at the church office, 808-245-3796, or www.stmichaels-kauai.org.

Proceeds will benefit the children, youth, outreach and music ministries of St. Michael's.

The All Angels Craft Fair, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 14, will feature local crafts, as well as lau lau plates for $8.

All weekend worship services, including the main service at 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 15, will feature special music and dance as tribute to the king and queen.

At 9:15 a.m. on Nov. 15, the church will dedicate the renovated Goodale Ministry Center, which houses the church's Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, Representative Payee Program, Zone Youth Center and a preteen classroom.

DAMIEN BRACELETS TO BENEFIT CHURCH

Eight specially-designed sterling-silver bracelet designs that depict the lives of St. Damien or Mother Marianne are being sold to benefit the building fund for the new, renamed St. Sophia Church in Kaunakakai.

Once completed, the Molokai parish will be renamed St. Damien's, recognizing Damien's recent canonization in Rome.

The church expects the new building to be ready for Christmas celebrations in 2011.

RAMLER TO SPEAK AT TEMPLE EMANU-EL

Seigfried Ramler, educator and author of the book "Nuremberg and Beyond," will speak at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the series of "Lunch and Learning" discussions at Temple Emanu-El. His appearance is sponsored by Hawaii Jewish Seniors.

Ramler was a witness to Kristallnacht, the anti-Jewish program in Nazi Germany that included mass murder, arrests and plundering of synagogues and homes.

He was also a participant in the Kindertransport child rescue and refugee program, and a translator at the Nuremberg Tribunal.

The discussion series is held on the second Thursday of each month, September through June, at the temple. It is open to the public.
