Grand jury indicts Mäkaha man shot by police Nov. 4
A state grand jury yesterday indicted a 23-year-old Mäkaha man who was shot by police as they tried to arrest him at a Waikele fast-food restaurant Nov. 4.
Jeremiah Lopez III was charged with first- and second-degree assault, two counts of assault against a law enforcement officer, first-degree robbery, first-degree criminal property damage, unauthorized entry and control of a vehicle, first-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
The indictment supercedes charges brought Nov. 5.
Lopez is accused of ramming a stolen Dodge Durango into two police vehicles as officers tried to arrest him in the drive-through lane of the KFC restaurant. Two police officers were injured. Lopez was shot three times but released from the hospital last week.
