BERLIN — Shiho Sakai of Japan has broken the women's 200-meter backstroke short-course world record.
Sakai clocked 2 minutes, 00.18 seconds at a World Cup meet Saturday to break the mark of 2.00.91 set by Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe on April 11, 2008, in Manchester, England.
