Kauai County opens emergency shelter in Kilauea

Advertiser Staff

Kauai County has opened an emergency shelter at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center in case anyone needs a place to stay as a result of flooding and road closures on the Garden Island.

The shelter is at 2460 Keneke St. and is being manned by Red Cross personnel.
Anyone going to the Kilauea shelter will find minimum accommodations — a dry floor, potable water and a bathroom, Kauai County officials said in a news release.
The Red Cross said volunteers will provide food, shelter and comfort kits to residents affected by the heavy rains and flooding.
