Navy pep rally, tailgate events set for Friday, Saturday

U.S. Naval Academy dignitaries will welcome alumni, guests, shipmates and Navy supporters at festivities Friday and Saturday as part of Saturday's Navy-University of Hawaii football game.
On Friday, Commander of the U. S. Pacific Command, Admiral Robert Willard; U. S. Naval Academy Superintendent Vice Admiral Jeff Fowler; U. S. Naval Academy Alumni Association CEO Byron Marchant; Honolulu Navy League President Don Morrison; and Honolulu Chapter USNA Alumni Association President Steve Colón will participate in a reception at the Hale Koa Hotel Garden Luau Area, starting at 5:30 p.m. The Navy Pep Band, Cheerleaders and Bill the Goat mascot will entertain the crowd with a performance at 7 p.m. The Celtic Pipes and Drums of Hawaii will close out the evening.
On Saturday, the Navy Blue & Gold will gather at Richardson Field, across from the stadium, starting at 1 p.m., for the Pep Rally and Tailgater blowout.
University of Hawaii fans are invited to the pre-game fun.
For those who have not already paid or made reservations, a minimum commemorative cup and 2 drink (beer or soda) tickets purchase, for only $10, is required for admission.
Pearl Harbor Morale, Welfare & Recreation (MWR) is operating a cash bar with great low prices for beer, wine, Mai Tai's, and soft drinks.
The Chief and First Class Petty Officers of the Surface Navy Association are providing a pay-as-you-go barbecue. Inside, enjoy the festivities, Marine warfighting displays, the Navy Pep Band and Cheerleaders, Bill the Goat and an appearance by Vili the Warrior.
Limited free parking is available at the Rainbow Marina, past the Arizona Memorial Visitors Center, for military and Navy guests.
This Pep Rally and Tailgater extraordinaire is open to the public.
