The Aloha Medical Mission is sending medicines and medical supplies to help the victims of a typhoon that struck the Philippines on Friday, causing massive flooding and loss of lives.

Donated supplies, valued at $5,000, will be transported next week by Hawaiian Airlines, said Keoni Wagner, airlines spokesman.
Sister Eva Maona, a Catholic nun and surgeon, will receive the supplies and AMM volunteer Dr. Amy Jacang will travel with them and assess the immediate needs of the flood victims, said Dr. Bradley Wong, president of AMM.
The Aloha Medical Mission has sent over 70 missions to the Philippines, including one to Leyte where a massive landslide buried more than 2,000 people three years ago.
AMA is also providing aid to American Samoa, which was struck by an earthquake and tsunami Wednesday. Medicine and donated medical supplies will be transported free of charge by Hawaiian Airlines, also next week, and should reach the region in a day or so, Wong said.
The mission will hold a benefit concert Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall and will give a portion of the proceeds to the disaster victims in the Philippines and Samoa, he said.
Four Doctors, a Patient, and a Sweetheart will feature Raiatea Helm.
