Firefighters rescue three hikers from Aiea Loop Trail

Three hikers who spent the night on the Aiea Loop Trail were brought out about 6:30 this morning by the Honolulu Fire Department’s helicopter.
Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said the hikers, males in their 20s, used a cell phone to call for help shortly before 7 last night after becoming disoriented and fatigued.
Seelig said the hikers were inexperienced and did not have proper attire or footwear.
Fire rescue personnel from Aiea hiked in to where the men were. But because of the lateness of the day, the weather and the muddy trail conditions, they decided it would be best to spend the night with the men and wait until morning to complete the rescue.
