Police were looking for the person or people who severely beat a 34-year-old woman Tuesday night in Downtown.

Patrol officers reported finding the woman with numerous injuries about 8:30 p.m.

The woman told police she had been assaulted but officers were unable to find the exact scene or locate any witnesses.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, said city paramedics were sent at 8:37 p.m. to Aala Park, where they treated the woman before taking her to a hospital in serious condition.

Police said the woman's condition worsened, and she was listed in critical condition.

Police classified the case as a second-degree assault.
