Police are asking for the public's help in finding a 41-year-old Kona woman whose car was found Sunday at Wawaloli Beach Park.

Tomoko Ioh told family members she would be back in 30 minutes to one hour before leaving her home around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, said her husband, Kai Ioh. Police began searching for her at about 3 p.m., West Hawaii Today reported.

Her green and silver 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara was found parked about 20 yards north of the beach park's restroom, police said. The vehicle and items inside were intact.

Ioh, who has two daughters — ages 1 and 8 — reportedly visited the shoreline area earlier with her husband, Sommers said. Fire personnel searched a tidal pool area where the couple occasionally came to watch the ocean but found no sign of her.

Kai Ioh said his wife was a good swimmer who loved the ocean.

"Several people in the past have been washed off these rocks never to be found again," Sommers said.

Ioh is described as about 5-feet-1 and about 110 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information or who may have seen her is asked to call the Kailua Fire Station at 327-3545, the police department nonemergency line at 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 329-8181 in Kona or 961-8300 in Hilo. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
