Saint Louis senior quarterback Jeremy Higgins confirmed yesterday that he has verbally committed to attend Utah State on a football scholarship.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Higgins is a second-year starter for the Crusaders and was an Advertiser All-State second-team selection in 2008.
"They offered me (a scholarship) really early and I got to know the coaches well," said Higgins, who has thrown 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season. "It seems like it's going to be a program on the rise."
Higgins, who leads all Division I passers with 2,457 yards and an efficiency rating of 164.3, will have family nearby. His older brothers, Cameron and Zach, play football for Weber State, which is about 50 miles south of the Utah State campus in Logan.
"The quarterbacks coach at Utah State used to be (Cameron's) coach at Weber State," Higgins said. "He said that it would be a wise decision for me to go there."
He also had a scholarship offer from Hawaii.
