The two teams expected to challenge Kahuku for the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red East championship clash tomorrow.

The No. 7 Farrington Governors will take on the No. 8 Castle Knights at Roosevelt's Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium. The JV game starts at 4 p.m. with the varsity to follow.

The Governors (3-0 overall, 1-0 East) and Knights (3-0, 1-0) have yet to lose in nonleague and in their league season openers last week to stay even with the No. 2 Red Raiders (3-0, 1-0), who host Roosevelt (1-2, 0-1) tonight.

"Every game is important," Farrington coach Randall Okimoto said of the short, six-game schedule in the Red. "Everyone's jockeying for position for playoff seeding."

In the first three games, the Govs ran the ball nearly three times (71 rushes) more than passing (27 attempts). Running back Henry Tuimaseve took the bulk of the rushes (46 for 274 yards). He rushed for 411 yards last season, but was overshadowed by Apelu So'oalo, who rushed for 1,230 yards.

"We're trying to get our running game established," Okimoto said. "We have two quarterbacks (Jared Hakuole and Apollo Faumui) and we're trying to find a solid starter."

Both could share time again, but Okimoto said Hakuole will start.

The Govs usually pass more than they have shown. Their receiving threat is tight end/wideout Sammy Park.

The Knights will use the air as always with newcomer Jaymason Lee, a transfer from Kamehameha. He has completed 51 of 81 for 553 yards and seven TD. His addition allows last year's and this season's backup, Jaysen Ferreira, to see more time at his primary position of linebacker, Castle coach Nelson Maeda said.

Castle has one of the most versatile players around in returning all-purpose all-state selection Shaydon Kehano (receiver, safety, returner).

"He rarely comes off the field," Maeda said.

The bulk of O'ahu's prep games are being held tomorrow because the University of Hawai'i's season opener against Central Arkansas is tonight.

The Interscholastic League of Honolulu opens its regular season with a tripleheader at Aloha Stadium tomorrow featuring cross divisional games. The feature game is Division I and No. 3 Kamehameha (3-0) against DII and No. 10 'Iolani (2-1) at 7:45 p.m.

The OIA Red West has crucial matchups with Campbell (2-1, 1-0) traveling to No. 6 Wai'anae (1-2, 1-0), and No. 4 Mililani (3-0, 1-0) trying to keep its perfect record at Waipahu (2-1, 0-1). Both games are tomorrow.
