CINCINNATI — In only 27 seconds, Denver went from a crushing loss to an unbelievable win.
Brandon Stokely caught a tipped pass and outran Cincinnati’s shocked defenders for an 87-yard touchdown with 11 seconds left Sunday, giving the Broncos a 12-7 victory over a Bengals team that thought it had this one in the pocket.
One deflection snatched it away.
After Cedric Benson’s 1-yard touchdown run put Cincinnati ahead 7-6 with 38 seconds left, Kyle Orton — in line to shoulder the blame for a Denver loss — threw a hopeful pass that bounced the Broncos’ way. His throw to Brandon Marshall was tipped in the air by cornerback Leon Hall and deflected right into Stokely’s arms.
He ran sideways for several steps before crossing into the end zone, eating up a few more seconds before stealing the win away.
