PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Palm Beach Gardens High School has canceled its varsity football game against Royal Palm Beach High after more than 20 players became ill.
Although it’s unclear what caused the illness, athletic director Bill Weed told The Palm Beach Post that swine flu is a concern. He believes the players and coaches are afflicted with a common illness, but said he did not know specifics.
Gators coach Chris Davis said about 20 players missed practice Monday. Some coaches are also sick.
The Florida High School Athletic Association said it is aware of the situation at Palm Beach Gardens and is looking into it.
