Hawaii County police said a 22-year-old New Jersey man reported missing in the area of Kehena Beach in lower Puna has been found unharmed.

Joel Elliott Collins was found in Keaau at 10:37 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

Collins had last been contacted by family members March 25, when he told them he was at a beach park.

Police said Collins' backpack was found on the side of a road near Kehena Beach Park on Monday and turned in as found property.
