Mobi PCS has opened a Kīhei store, its second location on Maui.

The 470-square-foot store is in Azeka Shopping Center in the former Pizza Hut location.

The three employees hired for the store bring Mobi's total workforce to about 100 statewide. A grand opening celebration for the store is set for April 10.

CASTLE GROUP LOST $1.02 MILLION LAST YEAR

The Castle Group, a Honolulu-based operator of hotels, reported its net loss widened last year to $1.02 million from $290,000 in 2008.

The firm said it's revenues declined because of a decrease in visitors to Hawai'i as the worldwide economic slump cut the number of people wanting to travel.

Castle Group reported its revenue fell to $16 million during the year. That compared with $20.1 million in 2008.

STATE GETS $11.3 MILLION FOR JOB TRAINING

Hawai'i is getting $11.3 million in allotments this year under the Workforce Investment Act and the Wagner-Preyser Act that are aimed at helping people get back to work through employment and training services.

The state will receive $8.75 million through the Workforce Investment Act.

Employment services in Hawai'i through the Wagner-Peyser Act will receive $2.53 million.

UH BUSINESS STUDENTS WIN 2ND IN CONTEST

A team of three UH-Shidler College of Business students took first runner-up honors in the 2010 Thammasat Asia Moot Corp. business plan competition in Bangkok.

The team of Tiffany Chiang, Omar Sultan and Tarik Sultan presented a plan for a firm called MB Therapeutics that develops the standard for noninvasive targeted drug/gene delivery to improve patient care.

They won $2,500 for their efforts and beat out teams from many of Asia's top universities, including those from China, Hong Kong, India, Japan and Singapore.
