Lindsey Vonn is going from Olympic star to "Law & Order" bit player and said she's delighted about it.
"How many people get to appear on their favorite TV show?" Vonn said yesterday in a statement released by NBC and series creator Dick Wolf.
In the crime drama's season finale, the skier will play an administrative assistant with a vital clue in a case involving a terrorist, NBC said. She's set to film her scene with series stars Jeremy Sisto, Anthony Anderson and Alana de la Garza next week in Brooklyn.
'MODERN FAMILY,' 'GLEE' WIN PEABODIES
The winners of the 2009 Peabody Awards, announced yesterday, include the ABC sitcom "Modern Family," Fox network's "Glee," CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and HBO's "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency."
The awards recognize achievement and public service by TV and radio stations, networks, producing organizations, individuals and the Internet.
Other winners include the BBC's dramatic reconstruction "The Day that Lehman Died" and National Public Radio's Web site.
"To those who say all media content is the same, or presented from a single perspective, we offer this great range of material as a response," Horace Newcomb, director of the Peabody Awards, said in a statement.
PALIN SHOW DROPS OLD LL COOL J CLIP
The announcement by Fox News on Tuesday that LL Cool J would be featured in the debut episode of a new show hosted by Sarah Palin provoked surprise among many — including, apparently, the rapper himself, who wrote on his Twitter account late Tuesday that he had not participated in the show.
"Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins Show," he tweeted. "WOW."
Fox News said the program, "Real American Stories," included an interview the performer gave to the network as part of an online project of the same name that launched during the 2008 election. But producers are now excising his interview from the show after LL Cool J, whose real name is James Todd Smith, raised objections.
JESSE JAMES HEADED TO TREATMENT FACILITY
Jesse James reportedly is seeking professional help to deal with "personal issues" after a cheating scandal that has put his nearly five-year marriage to Sandra Bullock on the line.
His representative told People magazine in a statement Tuesday that James "realized that this time was crucial to help himself, help his family and help save his marriage."
The representative did not specify the type of treatment facility.
Bullock was on a career high that culminated with an Oscar win for "The Blind Side" just before Internet rumors of James' infidelity surfaced.
