LAS VEGAS — Robert Guerrero will return from an eight-month ring absence to face Roberto Arrieta in a lightweight bout April 30 at the Tropicana Las Vegas.

Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya announced Saturday that the 10-round fight will highlight the return of the "Solo Boxeo" series on Telefutura.

The bout will be Guerrero's lightweight debut and his first fight since he dominated Malcolm Klassen last August in Houston to claim the IBF super featherweight title. Arrieta (34-15-4, 15 KOs), from Argentina, has won four of his last five bouts.

Guerrero (25-1-1, 17 KOs) vacated his 130-pound belt in February, shortly after dropping out of a fight with Michael Katsidis to be with his wife, Casey, during her struggle with leukemia.

Guerrero said his wife's health has improved following a bone-marrow transplant and chemotherapy. The Guerreros are from Gilroy, Calif., just south of the Bay Area, and have two young children.

Guerrero has declared himself ready for a full-time return to the ring, and Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer said he hopes to match Guerrero against the winner of Juan Manuel Marquez's upcoming rematch with Juan Diaz later this year.

Guerrero, who turned 27 last week, is unbeaten with two no-contests in 11 fights since December 2005, winning the IBF featherweight title twice before moving up to 130 pounds. He had an 11-month layoff stretching through most of 2008 during a legal battle over his move to Golden Boy.
