City says it will shift rail line by Honolulu International Airport
The city today disclosed that it plans to shift the route of a planned rail line to avoid interfering with airspace at Honolulu International Airport.
The city had planned to move an airport runway, however, that option is too expensive, the city said today during testimony at a city council committee hearing.
The cost of moving the route was not disclosed. The city also did not estimate when construction of the $5.3 billion project might begin. Groundbreaking was supposed to occur in December.
