Tell us your mom's words of wisdom
| |||
Maybe it was mom's advice to you on love and relationships. Or her two cents on how you should — or shouldn't — spend your hard-earned money. Did your mother share priceless words of wisdom that have stayed with you to this day?
Fill in the blank, in 50 words or less: "Mom was right when she said ..." We'll publish our favorite responses in the paper in honor of Mother's Day. Send your answer, along with your name, age, daytime phone number and address to: Mother's Day, Island Life, The Honolulu Advertiser, 605 Kapi'olani Blvd., Honolulu, HI 96813; or e-mail it to zserrano@honoluluadvertiser.com with "Mother's Day" in the subject line. Submissions may be edited.
We also welcome photos of you with your mom — original prints or high-resolution images — which may appear in print or online. Original prints will not be returned. Deadline is April 26.

WRIGGLY RECYCLING WORKSHOP
Learn how to recycle household organic waste this Saturday at a "worm workshop" offered by the Board of Water Supply, in partnership with the Waikiki Worm Company and the Friends of Hālawa Xeri-scape Garden.
Participants will construct their own vermicomposting bins, 10-noon at Hālawa Xeriscape Garden, 99-1268 Iwaena St. in Hālawa Valley's Central Park Industrial Area; $30, or $20 for Friends of Hālawa Xeriscape Garden, 945-9676, waikikiworm@hawaii.rr.com. The fee covers a "Mini-Bin" starter colony of worms and an owner's manual. Bring a friend or family member along for an additional $10. A free, 15-minute guided tour of the garden is set for 9:40 a.m. For information about xeriscaping, visit www.boardofwatersupply.com or call 748-5041.
