A 22-year-old Kalihi man was arrested early Tuesday morning after his mother turned a shotgun in to police.
Police had been sent out on a shots-fired call but found nothing when they arrived in Kalihi.
A bit later, the man's mother turned a shotgun in to police and called back after a short while, saying the son was threatening to damage her home while demanding that the shotgun be returned to him.
After learning the son had possession of the shotgun at the time the shots-fired call came in, police arrested him about 3 a.m. on suspicion of possession of a prohibited firearm and failure to properly store a firearm.
