Clifford C. Dias and Patrick W. Naughton have been nominated as finalists to fill the East Hawai'i seat on the University of Hawai'i board of regents.

The two were selected by the Regents Candidate Advisory Council. Gov. Linda Lingle must select a replacement from among the two. That person will then face confirmation hearings before the state Senate this session.

The East Hawai'i seat has been vacant since Harvey Tajiri resigned in mid-February.

Neither regents nor members of the advisory council are paid.
