HFD helps injured hiker near Maunawili Falls

HFD rescue crews helped a hiker who injured his ankle Sunday on a trail near Maunawili Falls.
HFD Capt. Earle Kealoha said personnel from the Olomana Station (E-39), Rescue 2, and Air-1 extricated a young man from the area near Maunawili Falls.
The hiker, one of four who set out on the hike earlier Sunday morning, hurt his ankle and was unable to continue.
The E-39 crew hiked up the trail and found the party. They carried the injured hiker to a clearing on the trail. Air-1 picked him up and flew him to Maunawili Park, where he was transferred to a waiting EMS unit.
