NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK

FREE PROGRAMS ON TAP STATEWIDE

National Library Week runs through Saturday, and public libraries statewide will host free programs throughout the month to celebrate. In addition to featured storytellers, performers and artists, public libraries will offer a variety of programs, including:

• "Craft-Making with Gayle Kandul": Learn how to make book-related crafts; suitable for ages 12 and older; 10 a.m. Saturday; Wai'anae Public Library. Register: 697-7868.

• "Hawai'i Plantation Village @ Your Library": With food and crafts from Waipahu of yesteryear, a plantation-style dance demonstration and local snacks to sample; children can also make a bean bag and play a plantation game (all children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver); 10 a.m. April 23; Waipahu Public Library (above).
