Warriors sweep UC Santa Barbara, will host MPSF first-round match

The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team swept host UC Santa Barbara, 33-31, 30-28, 30-26, but also got help from UC San Diego to earn a home match in the first-round of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament.
The Warriors finished the regular season 14-9 overall and 14-8 in the MPSF. They earned the tournament's No. 4 seed when US San Diego defeated Pepperdine in five sets tonight. UC Santa Barbara (13-16, 9-13) was eliminated from next week's MPSF Tournament.
Jonas Umlauft led the Warriors with a match-high 22 kills on .386 hitting. Joshua Walker added 14 kills, six digs and three blocks.
UH hit .365 compared to .258 for UCSB.
UCSB's Jeff Menzel had a team-high 16 kills while Todd Travis added 14.
The MPSF Tournament begins next Saturday with matches at the leagues top four seeds.
