Makaha house fire was arson, officials determine
A house fire on Jade Street in Makaha earlier this month was intentionally set, the Honolulu Fire Department said Friday.
Investigators determined that the fire began inside the home on 84-429 Jade St. and have referred the case over to the Honolulu Police Department.
The April 5 fire destroyed the two-story home. Damage is estimated at $400,000. Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said three adults and four children lived in the home but were not home at the time of the fire. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced residents.
