Meeting to cover Pearl City, ‘Aiea transit development
The city will hold a workshop on the 'Aiea-Pearl City Neighborhood Transit-Oriented Development Plan at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Pearl Ridge Elementary School cafeteria, 98-940 Moanalua Road. The plan does not cover the construction of the transit line or stations, but instead discusses the development of the places and spaces surrounding the stations, including housing, retail, office and commercial areas.

NONPROFIT GROUP HAWAIIAN HOPE OPENS INTERNET CAFE
Hawaiian Hope has opened an Internet cafe at 611 N. King St., with daily hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The cafe has 10 computers and an 11-foot-wide screen for projecting images during training classes, presentations and video conferencing. Hawaiian Hope is a nonprofit group providing computer access to the homeless and charges $1 per hour for computer use. For more information, e-mail curtis@hawaiianhope.org.

SWIM ACROSS ‘AU‘AU CHANNEL A BENEFIT FOR HELPING HANDS
The Hawaiian Island Channel Swimmers will swim nine miles across the 'Au'au Channel between Lāna'i and Maui April 30 as a fundraiser for Helping Hands Hawai'i. All proceeds will support "Ready to Learn," which distributes a backpack filled with essential school supplies to students who would otherwise go to school empty-handed.
