NASCAR races set for today after rain

Associated Press

FORT WORTH, Texas — Rain forced NASCAR to postpone its scheduled Sprint Cup and Nationwide doubleheader at Texas Motor Speedway until today.

The Sprint Cup race was called yesterday about 75 minutes after its scheduled start because of persistent drizzle and an uncertain forecast the rest of the day. The race was rescheduled for 6 a.m. today.

Wet weather Saturday forced the postponement of the Nationwide race then. It had been rescheduled for last night after the Cup race. It will now be run after the Cup race today at 11 a.m. on ESPN2.

About 2 1/2 inches of rain fell at the track Saturday and yesterday. The forecast today calls for cloudy skies with only a minimal chance of rain.
