MLB: Mets place Igarashi on DL with hamstring injury
Associated Press
NEW YORK — The New York Mets have placed reliever Ryota Igarashi on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Igarashi was injured when he slipped trying to retrieve Koyie Hill's bunt in front of the mound during the eighth inning of New York's 4-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night.
The Japanese right-hander had an MRI exam Wednesday that confirmed the injury.
The Mets recalled right-hander Manny Acosta from Triple-A Buffalo to take Igarashi's spot on the roster. Acosta was claimed off waivers from the Atlanta Braves on March 30.
Igarashi has no record and a 1.35 ERA in seven games with New York.
