Not to be confused with the Hawaii International Film Festival, which wraps up Friday with a "Sip with HIFF" wine tasting and movie showing at Fujioka's Market City, the Honolulu Film Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday at Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa.
Among the films showing are "Diamond Confidential," already named the festival's Short Film Silver Lei Award winner. It is a story about Mick Diamond, a down and out photographer who takes "dirty pictures, of dirty people, doing dirty things." Another movie screening is "Australians Hit Hollywood," a documentary executive produced by actress and philanthropist Alex Meneses, is about Australians and New Zealanders following their dreams in the entertainment industry. It includes interviews with actors, film makers, technicians, musicians and leaders in the Australian community.
