Hawaii County police yesterday charged a South Kona man with 10 offenses in connection with a series of sometimes violent crimes.

Daniel "Dukie" Abraham, 28, was charged with kidnapping, first-degree assault, two counts of third-degree assault, three counts of terroristic threatening, and three counts of auto theft.

Abraham is being held in the Kona cellblock in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to make his initial appearance in court on Monday.

A man arrested with Abraham, 24-year-old Kainoa Jake Kahoalii of South Kona, has been charged with auto theft and is being held in the cellblock in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Police allege that between September 2009 and April 17, Abraham was involved in a series of crimes.

In the most violent incident, a man reported having a finger severed from his left hand by a machete.

A woman also reported being held against her will in her home and a man told police he was punched and kicked before his car was stolen.

Acting on an anonymous tip to CrimeStoppers, Big Island police arrested Abraham and Kahoalii on Tuesday in a parking lot in Captain Cook, where a stolen sport utility vehicle was found.
