The University of Hawai'i completed its 2012 football schedule yesterday with the addition of Lamar University, which is reviving its program this season after 21 years.

The Warriors and Cardinals will meet Sept. 15, 2012 at Aloha Stadium.

Lamar, which is located in Beaumont, Texas, will compete in the Southland Conference of the Football Championship Subdivision.

UH has completed non-conference schedules for the next two football seasons and needs one game for 2013 and two more each in 2014 and 2015.

The 2012 schedule includes road games at USC (Sept. 1) and Brigham Young (Sept. 8) to open the season and home games against Lamar (Sept. 15), UNLV (Sept. 22) and Western Kentucky (Dec. 1).

TENNIS

3 TEAMS WIN TITLES

Three teams from Hawai'i captured World Team Tennis Rec League regional titles earlier this month in the National Qualifier at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas.

More than 500 players and 71 teams competed at the qualifier, which uses the coed team format created in the 1970s by Billie Jean King.

Hana Hou, which won the 3.5 division, Team Hawai'i (4.0) and Central O'ahu (Senior 4.0) advance to the WTT National Finals, where they face champions from six other qualifying events. Finals are Nov. 5 to 7 in Indian Wells, Calif.

Clyde Miyasato of Waipahu captained Hana Hou, which got past a Colorado team, 33-30, in the semifinals, then beat Amazing Nutts of Las Vegas, 36-23, in the final.

Team Hawai'i, captained by Michael Young, also beat a Las Vegas team in the final, by a 31-23 score. The team was unbeaten in round-robin qualifying.

Central O'ahu, from Mililani, was also unbeaten in round robin and outscored opponents 168-89. Leonard Loventhal is the captain.

FAIRMONT BLESSING

The Fairmont Orchid Hawai'i is inviting guests and kama'aina to an open house and blessing at the Tennis Center in Kohala on May 2, beginning at 9 a.m. with a Hawaiian blessing.

There will be 10 pros on the courts conducting free clinics, focusing on first serves, second serves, volleys and stroke production.

Representatives from Prince, Babolat and Gamma will also be on hand for racquet stringing and strategy tips. The retail shop at the Tennis Center will offer a 25 percent discount off all merchandise. Guests will also get a free lunch.
