Ali'iolani Hale, Kawaiaha'o Church, Honolulu Hale and the Hawai'i State Library are among the island's historic buildings with architectural significance. Learn more about these and other buildings at the fourth annual Downtown Walking Tour today, starting at the Stangenwald Building at 119 Merchant St. The event is part of Architecture Month in Hawai'i.

Architects with the American Institute of Architects-Honolulu Chapter will lead the three-hour, two-mile tours, sharing historical and design details of each building. Participants should wear comfortable shoes, sunscreen and hats, and bring water and snacks. Walkers will also receive a free copy of AIA Honolulu's "Exploring Downtown" guidebook.

Tours will be at set times by reservations made by today: www.aiahonolulu.org. If the website indicates tours are already booked, architects will offer the "Exploring Downtown" guidebook free and walkers can take a self-guided tour.
