High-surf advisory in effect for all south-facing shores

A high-surf advisory has been posted for south-facing shores of all islands.
The National Weather Service says surf will be 7 to 10 feet today and tonight. The advisory remains in effect until 6 tomorrow night.
Bryan Cheplic of the city's Emergency Services Department said lifeguards are reporting wave faces of 5 to 8 feet along south shores. He says lifeguards are urging beachgoers to practice caution.
Cheplic said as of 2 p.m. today, there were 215 verbal warnings issued for District 1, which includes Ala Moana and Waikiki Beach. Lifeguards also had to make 11 assists using personal watercraft and four rescues.
Meanwhile, it will be a mostly sunny day with isolated windward and mauka showers.
Highs will be 81 to 86 degrees and trades 15 to 20 mph.
