Bobby Miles signed a national letter of intent today to play for the University of Hawaii men's basketball team.

Miles, a 6-foot-1 point guard at Workman High School in City of Industry, Calif., visted Hawaii last weekend and made a commitment to play for the Rainbow Warriors on Tuesday.

"We're thrilled to have Bobby join our UH family," Hawaii head coach Gib Arnold said. "He's a phenomenal kid who I believe Hawai`i fans will really enjoy watching for the next four years. He just started to burst onto the national scene and his future is extremely bright."

Miles averaged around 28 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists per game as a senior at Workman this past season.

Miles was a four-year starter and all-league performer for Workman. He was first-team all-league three seasons straight and earned MVP honors in his final two seasons. As a junior he averaged 16.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 3.7 steals per game. During his senior season he led Workman to the league title with an 11-1 record. In his final high school game, Miles exploded for 43 points and 12 rebounds during a first-round loss in the CIF playoffs.

"As a point guard," Arnold added, "I believe Bobby has great leadership skills and the the ability to create his own shot and shots for others. He's young — only 17 — and we're excited to work with him and the rest of our recruiting class in building this program."

He is the sixth recruit to sign with the 'Bows for next season. The others are shooting guard Bo Barnes, guard Jordan Coleman, forward/center Vander Joaquim, forward Josten Thomas and guard/forward Trevor Wiseman.
