Ryan Yamane hit a tie-breaking two-run base hit in the top of seventh inning to rally Punahou to a 5-2 victory over Kamehameha, earning the six-time defending state champion Buffanblu a berth in next week's state baseball tournament.
The Interscholastic League of Honolulu playoff at Ala Wai was for the league's third berth in the state tournament. ILH champion Saint Louis and runner-up Mid-Pacific already have earned state berths for the tournament set for May 5-8 on Maui.
Kamehameha led 2-1 going into the top of the seventh.
But a bases-loaded walk tied the score at 2 and Yamane followed with the game-winner. Rick Nomura scored the fifth run.
