HONOLULU — More than 6,500 Hawaii school children have chosen the first volume of a suspense series for the 45th annual 2010 Nene Award.
The winner of the honor was "Found" by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The runner-up was "How to Steal a Dog" by Barbara O'Connor.
"Found" is the first volume of the suspense series, "The Missing." It begins with a plane unexpectedly landing at an airport carrying 36 passengers — all infants — and no flight crew.
The Nene Award is supported by the Hawaii State Public Library System and the state Department of Education.
