Broken main repaired after affecting businesses, traffic
The Honolulu Board of Water Supply spent much of yesterday completing repairs on a broken water main that left about nine businesses without water on Super Bowl Sunday.
The repairs were completed at 6 p.m. last night after the line broke at 5:07 a.m. yesterday at Kamehameha Highway and Avocado Street, Board of Water Supply officials said.
Traffic was funneled into one northbound lane of Kamehameha Highway and the center-turn lane for much of the day, officials said.
"We had no water half (the) day today," said Shengli Chang, L&L Drive-Inn owner. "We had to close (yesterday), which is usually a little bit busier because of Super Bowl Sunday."
