MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Scottie Reynolds didn't have any memorable games against West Virginia — until he got hot against the Mountaineers in the second half last night.

The senior guard scored 19 of his 21 points in the final 13 minutes and No. 4 Villanova held off No. 5 West Virginia, 82-75.

In the season's first matchup of teams ranked in the top five, the Wildcats (21-2, 10-1) rebounded from a blowout loss at No. 7 Georgetown on Saturday to pull into a first-place tie with No. 2 Syracuse in the Big East.

"You have guys asking where the toughest place to play is, and hands down for me, it's West Virginia," said Reynolds, who had averaged nine points in three previous games against the Mountaineers, including two losses in Morgantown.

"I remember a lot of years here," he said. "It feels good to get one under our belt. It feels good and to do it the way we did it, it feels even better."

Leading scorer Da'Sean Butler (13 points on 2-of-12 shooting) had his worst performance in three weeks and that haunted West Virginia (19-4, 8-3), which couldn't overcome an 11-point halftime deficit and saw its six-game winning streak snapped.

NO. 1 KANSAS 80, NO. 14 TEXAS 68: Marcus Morris scored 18 points to lead Kansas to victory over host Texas. The Jayhawks (23-1, 9-0) held the Longhorns (19-5, 5-4), the top-scoring team in the Big 12, to 37 percent shooting and scored 27 points off 17 turnovers.

No. 18 Butler 62, Loyola, Chicago 47: Matt Howard scored 20 points to lead host Butler (21-4, 14-0) to its 13th straight win and at least a share of its fourth straight Horizon League regular-season title. The Ramblers (13-11, 4-10) have lost six of their past seven games against Butler.

No. 25 Pittsburgh 77, Robert Morris 53: Ashton Gibbs and Jermaine Dixon led a mid-game surge as host Pittsburgh (18-6) broke out of a tie late in the first half by scoring 27 of the next 32 points and improved to 28-0 all-time against Robert Morris (16-9).

WOMEN'S TOP 25

NO. 8 DUKE 79, NO. 18 NORTH CAROLINA 51: Bridgette Mitchell and Keturah Jackson scored 12 points apiece, and host Duke (19-4, 7-1) routed North Carolina (16-6, 4-4) to bounce back from its first Atlantic Coast Conference loss.

No. 5 Tennessee 69, Vanderbilt 60: Kelley Cain scored a career-high 19 points, and Tennessee (21-2, 9-1 Southeastern Conference) rallied and beat host Vanderbilt (17-7, 6-5) for the Lady Vols' fifth straight victory.

No. 21 Georgia Tech 68, Clemson 53: Brigitte Ardossi had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Georgia Tech (20-5, 6-3 ACC) reached 20 wins for the fourth straight year with a victory over host Clemson (11-14, 2-7).
