HONOLULU — Gov. Linda Lingle has ordered the Hawaii state flag to fly at half-staff at state and county buildings this weekend in honor of former state representative Jack Katsumi Suwa.
The flags are to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, the day his funeral is scheduled to be held in Hilo.
Suwa passed away on Jan. 22. He was elected to the Territorial House of Representatives in 1958.
He was elected a year later to the first state House of Representatives, where he served for 20 years.
