Friends of the Library receive challenge grant for library technology upgrades
The Hawaii Community Foundation has announced that it will make a challenge grant available to the Friends of the Library, matching part of a previous grant from the Gates Foundation to finance new computers and upgraded technology in Isle libraries.
The Friends, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting Hawai'i libraries through fundraising and volunteer efforts, had earlier received the promise from the Gates Foundation of $581,907 over the next two years if the group can match that amount in fundraising.
Hawaii Community Foundation has now agreed to match half of what's needed for this year, $151,200, leaving the Friends to raise $151,200.
