Nevada kept the Rainbow Wahine winless on the road in Western Athletic Conference basketball, running away from Hawai'i, 76-56 last night at Lawlor Events Center in Reno.

It was the 'Bows' fourth consecutive loss. They are 9-17 overall and 3-9 in the WAC — 1 1/2 games ahead of last-place San Jose State, where Hawai'i plays tomorrow. This year the last-place team does not qualify for the WAC Tournament.

Nevada (15-11) moved into second place at 9-3.

For the second straight game, the Rainbow Wahine were out-rebounded badly. Saturday, Idaho scored 21 second-chance points. Last night, Nevada out-rebounded UH 51-27, with 22 offensive boards.

"We came back from Idaho and spent 25 minutes just on box-out drills," UH coach Dana Takahara-Dias said. "We need better drills."

Again, she was not disappointed with her team's effort, particularly her two tallest players — 6-foot 4 Rebecca Dew and 6-3 Katie Wilson. They combined for 18 points off the bench, offering a new dimension Takahara termed "something to build on."

After falling behind in the opening moments, Nevada scored 13 straight points to pull ahead 15-4. The 'Bows struggled to cut their gap and trailed 41-31 at halftime, despite eight points from Wilson, who is averaging two. The Pack extended its lead to 53-35 five minutes into the second half.
