Film Friday is back
Friends of Film Friday returns to the Honolulu Academy of Arts this week with the Hawaii premiere of “La Danse: The Paris Opera Ballet.”
The 2009 film by documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman explores the Palais Garnier, home to the Paris Ballet Opera, with a meditation on the stars who dance for the ballet. After the film, questions will be answered by Denise Nakano, the Academy’s associate director of development and a ballet teacher, along with Gina Caruso, director of the Doris Duke Theatre.
The film begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19. Tickets are $15 general, $12 for museum members and $8 for students with ID.
