In what appears to be a case of “pedestrian rage,” a 58-year-old homeless man was arrested in Kapahulu yesterday morning following a dispute over a left turn made by a delivery truck driver.

The driver, 38, told police he was making a left turn about 7:50 a.m. when a man who appeared to be in his 20s walked around and stepped in front of the truck.
The driver said he got out of the truck and began to argue with the pedestrian, who eventually walked away.
The driver told police that as he was returning to the truck, the older man grabbed a metal pipe from a shopping cart and struck him several times with it.
The driver said younger man with whom he had argued moments earlier then jumped into the fray and began punching and kicking him.
Police said the driver was able to grab and hold onto the older man until police arrived at the scene, fronting 625 Kapahulu Avenue.
The older man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, while a third-degree assault investigation was opened against the younger man, who left the area before police arrived.
