WHISTLER, British Columbia — Double gold medalist Marit Bjoergen of Norway will skip the cross-country skiing team sprint to focus on the remaining long-distance events.
Norwegian sprint coach Jon Arne Schjetne says Bjoergen felt tired during training Saturday and decided to get some extra rest before the relay and 30-kilometer classical race.
Bjoergen won the individual classical sprint and the 15K pursuit to become the games' first double gold winner.
Norway is expected to use sprint specialists Celine Brun-Lie and Astrid Jacobsen instead for Monday's team competition, which is a freestyle event.
