HARTFORD, Conn. — During most of Connecticut's 66 consecutive wins, either Tina Charles or Maya Moore has had a big game.
Yesterday, they were both feeling it.
Charles matched her season high with 26 points and Moore added 21 to lead top-ranked UConn to a 85-53 rout of Providence.
"They can single-handedly just win a game, and certainly combined," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said. "When we're operating like that and they let us throw the ball to those two on a regular basis, it's going to be really, really, really hard to beat us."
UConn (27-0, 13-0 Big East) needs four more victories to tie its own record for the longest winning streak in the history of Division I women's basketball.
Chelsea Marandola had 12 points to lead Providence (15-11, 6-7).

Jayne Appel had 12 points and 10 rebounds as the host Cardinal (25-1 15-0 Pac-10) clinched at least a share of its 10th straight Pac-10 title with a rout of the Beavers (9-16, 1-13).

Kelsey Griffin had 25 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, and the host Cornhuskers (25-0, 12-0 Big 12) used a 12-0 run for a 82-65 lead in turning back the Buffaloes (12-13, 2-10)

Sugar Rodgers scored 24 points and the host Hoyas (22-4, 11-2 Big East) finished the game with a 14-6 run to hand the Fighting Irish (23-3, 10-3) their second straight loss.

Tyeasha Moss and Katie Rutan each made four 3-pointers and scored 12 points as the host Musketeers (22-3, 12-0) routed the Minutewomen (10-17, 4-8) to clinch the Atlantic 10 title.

Sydney Carter scored 14 points and Tanisha Smith added 13 as the host Aggies (19-6, 7-5 Big 12) went on a 10-1 run for a 53-41 lead with about 1 minute remaining to beat the Longhorns (19-7, 8-4).

Korinne Campbell had 14 points and 14 rebounds, helping the visiting Mountaineers (24-3, 11-2 Big East) turn back the Bulls (14-12, 5-8), who kept it close throughout the game.

Chelsea Poppens had 21 points and 16 rebounds and the host Cyclones (20-5, 8-4 Big 12) opened the game with an 18-2 run in cruising past the Lady Tigers (11-14, 1-11).

Kimetria Hayden scored 27 points to lead four teammates in double figures as the host Lady Bears (19-7, 6-6 Big 12) beat the Cowgirls (18-8, 6-6 Big 12).

Courtney Vandersloot scored 23 points as the host Bulldogs (23-4, 12-0 West Coast Conference) routed the Waves (17-9, 8-4) to clinch at least a share of the conference title.

HAWAI'I PACIFIC 91, DIXIE STATE 78
Courtney Buster had 25 points and 13 rebounds, leading the Sea Warriors past the Red Storm and into sole possession of first place in the Pacific West Conference yesterday at Blaisdell Arena.
Jazzmine Awa-Williams added 18 points, Genesis Lewis had 13, Paris Gravely 12 and Mana Hopkins 11 for HPU, which improved to 14-5 overall and 10-1 in the PacWest. Jessie Ingraham scored 21 to lead Dixie State, which fell to 13-7 and 9-2.
GRAND CANYON 69, HAWAI'I-HILO 48
Samantha Murphy scored 16 points and Ashley Hardin had 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Antelopes (16-7, 10-2 PacWest) rolled past the Vulcans (7-16, 4-8) in Hilo. Hina Kimitete scored 16 points for UHH, which led 28-26 at intermission.
