Hawai'i Pacific presented its most prestigious honor, the Fellow of the Pacific award, to men's basketball coach Tony Sellitto in recognition of his achievements and contributions to the school.
Sellitto, who is in his 16th and final season as head coach of the Sea Warriors, has been involved in basketball at both the collegiate and prep levels locally for nearly 40 years. He also spent 23 years as boys basketball coach at Maryknoll High School and led the Spartans to their only state championship in 1984. Sellitto announced in December his retirement from coaching effective at the end of this season.
Sellitto led HPU to an NAIA championship in 1993, which remains the only national basketball championship in state history. He has a 325-158 overall record with eight 20-win seasons and postseason appearances. The Sea Warriors are currently 18-5 overall and in first place in the PacWest with a 10-2 mark.
